Starting from June 14, 2025, Salento in Bus is back—an efficient summer transport service promoted by the Province of Lecce to help residents and tourists move around the Salento region without using a car.
The picturesque town of Galatina, located in the heart of Salento and home to our Canudis Apartments, will once again be included in the network. Thanks to its strategic inland location—virtually equidistant from both the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea—Galatina is a truly unique hub for exploring the area without the hassle of driving.
Running from June 14 to September 14, with a possible extension to September 21, Salento in Bus 2025 connects coastal resorts, rural villages, and cultural destinations through a dense network of bus lines designed to meet the increasing demand of tourists traveling through the region.
If you’re planning a holiday in Salento and wish to avoid traffic, hot car journeys, or parking issues, this service is an excellent solution. Public transportation is expanding year by year, and Galatina is a key access point for those exploring Salento without a private vehicle.
Galatina is served by two main bus lines, giving travelers the chance to easily reach both the Ionian and Adriaticcoasts. A rare opportunity that makes the town especially attractive for vacationers staying in the area.
Line 109 takes you westward, directly to Gallipoli, one of the most popular seaside destinations in Puglia. You’ll find long stretches of sandy beaches, both free and equipped, in areas like Padula Bianca and Rivabella.
Beyond the beach, Gallipoli’s charming old town is a must-visit, sitting on a tiny island connected by a bridge. It offers a rich mix of history, artisan shops, and local gastronomy in a truly Mediterranean atmosphere.
The line also passes through Aradeo, Neviano, Seclì, and Galatone—authentic villages worth exploring for their history and local charm.
Bonus Tip: The 104 Line (Lecce–Gallipoli) also runs along the Ionian coast, offering additional travel options.
Heading east, Line 112 connects Galatina to Torre dell’Orso, a renowned beach resort in the municipality of Melendugno. It’s famous for its crystal-clear waters and the iconic Faraglioni delle Due Sorelle (Two Sisters sea stacks).
According to legend, two sisters tired of their daily life dove into the sea here, only to be caught in a storm. The gods, moved by their story, transformed them into the two rock formations that now rise from the sea just off the shore.
This line also passes through several enchanting inland towns, including Soleto, Sternatia, Zollino, Martano, and Carpignano Salentino—all steeped in history and part of the culturally rich Grecìa Salentina.
